Scene Painting
A performer verbally describes the environment — 'We see a diner with steamed-up windows' — conjuring the world rather than miming it.
Known for
- Often used as a longform opening (The Movie uses cinematic scene painting).
- Can be 'We see' (third-person) or 'I notice' (character POV) — different schools prefer different conventions.
- Alternative to space-object establishment; faster but less physically grounded.
