The physical establishment of the scene's location — doors, walls, furniture, weather — collectively and consistently mimed by the ensemble.
Known for
- Distinct from object work: environment is the shared physical world; object work is interaction with items within it.
- Strong environment work lets subsequent players enter and 'read' the location without dialogue.
- Often the first thing dropped when improvisers panic — but the first thing audiences miss.
